Inspired by Cornelia Parker’s ‘Cold Dark Matter: An Exploded View’ this project was developed around the practice of destroying the original appearance and purpose of an object and reconstructing it to change the aesthetics. In ‘Deconstruction’ I smashed or disassembled a tea cup and saucer, a heavy crystal tumbler and a Chinese silk fan. The cup and saucer were reconstructed as small sculptures, the tumbler and fan I collaged on black paper. The paintings shown here were the result of close up studies of the reconstructed objects.
